I've been reading a lot about Aronia de Takazawa's restaurant in chowhound and i came across this blog (eat, show & tell) which really ignited my curiosity about this place. I wanted a place that was going to think outside the box, and not just give me that standard prix fixe menu.
I am glad to report, Aronia de Takazawa was a perfect choice for my trip.
The location is very hard to find, and even restaurants next to it does not know it exist. I passed by the main entrance about 3 times, circling the building and missing it totally. the only clue i got was the sign on the van that had "aronia de Takazawa" printed on the back. Next to it, was a simple white door, and a very small handle that had "aronia de takazawa" printed on the side. (similar to how the letters on the railing in the stairs was presented)
As you walk up the stairs, the kitchen table of the master is in the center stage. this is where he does his gastronomic magic.
3 months earlier, i wrote AdT a request for a table, and they told me that the minimum per table are 2 diners. I begged them to reconsider, and even offered to pay more to cover the cost, but they were very kind to accept my reservation without paying for 2.
This restaurant originally only seats 8 guests...but they were able to squeeze in another table for me. They also only do 1 seating per night.

The price is about 24,000 yen for 11 dishes, without wine/sake pairing. Wine/sake is about 2500yen - 3000yen per pour.
The decor of the place is very sleek and modern minimalist. The toilet is actually behind one of the walls next to the kitchen table.
The owner/chef Yoshiaki Takazawa does everything in his table, his wife Akiko is the main hostess and speaks perfect English when presenting and explaining the dishes. (make sure to write everything down or bring a voice recorder...because there is no description in the menu copy of the dishes)
He also had 2 assistants by his side.
Behind me is the bar area where they prepare the drinks.
very cool ceiling...again very minimal and modern.
